People who hate facebook in here who are posting in threads like "Images of items I have purchased." or commenting on one of the countless threads here about newborn babies... makes sense.

Liek my post or god will h8 u.

Facebook advocates : is going to a bar with 5 mates sitting in near silence whilst staring at your Facebook feed the future shape of enhanced social interaction Facebook delivers?
Its something I've witnessed more than a few times whilst overseas with work - very much hope it doesn't become the norm here too.

not really, that some people(teenagers) do that (and indeed do the same re: text messaging etc..) is inconsequential as to whether someone perhaps ought to consider facebook - unless you've got no self control/an addictive personality yourself.

Yet you've rolled through the thread pointing out how everyone who doesn't use it is missing it. You are only missing lurid you choose to make it a part of your social life which many people don't.

many might not do but most actually do

I also found it amusing how you constantly point out how "everyone" is using it when figures have shown a steady decline in the sub 25's (may have been 23 can't quite recall) using it as it is perceived as a "uncool" through heavy use of older generations and apparently younger ones want discussions that they feel can't be tracked and are going to programs like snapchat (I think that was the name) and, now a fake a deep breath here.... Skype etc so they can talk

As I said before, each to their own, I just found your preaching both strange and misinformed.

No you're simply incorrect in saying I'm misinformed - you're conflating an apparent dip in usage for some ages group with my statement that the majority of people (excluding under-aged and pensioners) use it.

I've simply pointed that fact out and then highlighted that the stated objections given by you(preferring face to face conversation, not wanting spam) could equally apply to e-mail or even owning a telephone.

Other arguments given by people in this thread seem to blame not facebook per say but their own real life social network for the utter garbage they post on there.

You could have emailed them all or rang them
[...]
Absolutely no need for Facebook since there are other much worse ways to do it and you should choose them first.

same arguments could be used against e-mails or phone calls... you could have written them a letter or gone to knock at their door(in local cases)

Point is facebook, in particular for events or for co-ordinating certain things between a group, is a much easier/more efficient method of communication.

Even the guy I quoted apologised.

"Images of items I have purchased." It isn't being flaunted on every broadcast platform. It isn't on every food packaging or advertised on every website or delivery vans.

It is only on one place if you know where to look.

Short story short. Got to 2nd interview and the interviewer asked for access to my Facebook account. When I told him that I didn't have one he basically called me a liar and ended the interview.

Sounds like a crap person/company to work for if they conduct their hiring process that way. If having access to a candidates FB account is a prerequisite to hiring someone, then they should make that clear prior to the 2nd interview.

Everyone I've ever known who uses it constantly complains about it and the people on it and yet are completely and utterly baffled and bemused at the people who don't use it.

The best types are the 'If you know how to use it..' brigade who try and appear superior to the normal users of it (Because they're the stupid ones right?) AND the people who are just not interested in it at all. :D

I thought it was those who don't use it are the superior ones

A forum thread is no different to commenting on a facebook status, other than facebook is usually less anonymous.

This .Moment right now, fuzzy pictures of food and things I recently purchased. But ocuk isn't a narcissism filled hole is it? Or maybe it is? Maybe it's just people at fault.

Used to use FB a lot but uninstalled it from my phones / tablets before Christmas. Haven't missed it at all.

Facebook is full of bragging selfies or baby and cat pictures. So basically noise I don't need in life. If anyone needs to contact me, I can easily be found on text or shock horror they can phone.

I use it for the groups/messenger, whether that be gaming or vaping related stuff, if you need help/advice on something FB acts as a medium inwhich I can ask a question to an audience of quite literally thousands of people at once!

Personally dislike facebook and all of the issues associated with it that have got worse over the years :

1)Ad heaven these days on my feed
2)People sharing useless ****, with no other input
3)The rose tinted nature of everyone who uses it indicating that their life is the best thing since sliced bread.

I would uninstall it....however....it is REALLY useful for keeping in touch with a few select friends now that I live oversees.

I suppose to fix MY favebook issues I just need to remove 75% of my 'friend' list.

I use facebook for the messenger and groups aspect of it as well. Got a few people in work I play games with and its the easiest way for us to organise it.

Actual facebook - I only check my feed once a week but its just a quick scroll then its closed.

For those who have left Facebook how are things on the other side? Did you keep messenger or go all the way? Curious to know why people left too.

I came off it for about 6 or so months. Created a new account with a pseudonym so that I can contact family and friends but generally use WhatsApp to communicate. I log on occasionally but I have too much going on in my life that I don't want to live my life vicariously through Facebook. I just don't have time for social media in general and don't get a huge amount of pleasure/use out of it.
