Hi everyone,

I just bought a new MSI gaming laptop. I was having problems with GeForce installing the latest driver so I uninstalled the RTX 3060 in Device manager and left the Intel intergrated graphics alone. The laptop restarted but wouldn't start properly, get going to automatic startup repair which didn't work. I then looked online and I tried booting into safe mode which worked fine. It said to rollback the driver but there was no driver. I tried again in safe mode with networking and the driver was there in device manager so I tried booting laptop and it had the same problem. Went back to safe mode and uninstalled the RTX 3060 GPU driver and loaded Windows out of safe mode and it worked, although blue screen of death kept coming up saying 'detected violation error'. I rebooted the laptop a few times and did SFC /scannow and that came back ok and then I managed to install the latest driver from GeForce and touch wood everything seems perfect again. I can see both graphics card on device manager and I have the latest driver installed now.

Does anyone know what on earth happened? I have done a memory check and that came back ok, it must have been to do with the graphics driver. It's working fine now so I don't think I can return the device and I don't think there's anything physically wrong with it?

Advice appreciated. Cheers!

Does the laptop have additional software, like for switching between the graphics, or that integrates with the nvidia drivers for monitoring purposes? That's the only thing I can think of.
