I foolishly decided to upgrade my usb bluetooth drivers and as a result they are now non-functional, good job there Broadcom.

Of course, as sods law dicates, there is no uninstall for these drivers or anyway to roll back to a previous version as they insist on using their stupid little installer/verifier tool.

So has anyone any idea how I can remove these b0rked drivers and attempt a re-install.

I'm using Vista x64 and rolling back the bluetooth radio adapter via Device Manager is a no go :(.

un-install using device manager. then unplug your dongle.

then browse to c:\windows\inf

and then find all the files starting with oem*

there will loads of inf/pnf files numbered from oem0 upwards. delete them all.

now open regedit and browse to

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\setup

now clear the value "Installation Sources". don't delete the value itself, just the data. :p

now try again.

Ok, I've uninstalled the dongle, removed the infs and cleared the reg key.

The Broadcom setup cannot start the Microsoft Bluetooth stack to install any bluetooth drivers and the original drivers that came with the dongle will not install as apparently a more modern version is already installed.

This is absurd! Any other ideas?

Damn, this is always the case. If I have a problem, then no-one can help =)

Luckly I traced the installer through procmon and gutted all references to relevant bluetooth entries, FIXED!
