Hey all

I just uninstalled my copy of Vista RC2 today. I had it installed on a separate 120GB IDE drive. Since it was on a different drive, I assumed I'd be OK to just format the drive from XP. The Vista Bootloader still appears every time I start up though. What's the best way to get rid of this?

Thanks

even though vista was on it's own disk, it overwrote the boot loader on your xp disk. that's why you still have it.

but no worries, just boot from your xp cd, and choose to enter the recover console at the first option screen. logon with the admin password and then run these 2 commands at the prompt....

fixboot
fixmbr

job done. i've done it loads of times when messing about with dual booting with vista. :)

Sounds good, thanks very much. Is there any chance I could mess it up and end up not being able to boot to XP? I haven't done a backup in ages so I'd feel like a bit of an eejit if I managed to wreck my windows install...

like i say, i've done it loads of times. but i've never had to worry about data loss as my important stuff is always on other partitions. :p
