im sure as soon as fergie got home last night, he called Hernandez's agent and sorted it all out.

:/

its carrick whos the problem! we need him out and a replacement, unless hargreaves makes a come back!

Would this be the need for a top class midfielder I mentioned in the summer transfer window that everybody said we didnt need Nick?

I wont go into the fact I mentioned the need for a center half, fullback, goal keeper, and striker as well to remain competitive.
He will reinforce all those positions , no matter what he says this summer.

I fully expect the likes of Berbatov, Tosic, Foster, Kuszchackkkkkkk, Diouf, Obertan and Neville to shipped out as well.

Major over haul this summer.

Good signing. Hope he doesn't shadow Macheda though hes a good striker.

Carrick has one bad game and we all slate him :p He's consistent, but i agree... We could do with some fresh midfielder like Gibson. I want to see more of Obertan and Tosic nxt season tbh.

I think Carrick has had a few bad games but he is a good player. It would definitely be good to see more options to keep him on his toes.

I reckon we need more of an attacking flair player in midfield and agree about Obertan (not seen as much of Tosic). That said, he'll have a job to get in the team when Valencia and Nani are playing well.

I think Obertan will be class next season, hes got some pace on him and a few tricks. Just can't cross as well was the top boys.

I'm hoping they spotted this Hernandez guy while scouting Guillermo Ochoa :p

Need him or Akinfeev as a replacement for VDS, and certainly need someone to strengthen the centre of midfield with -

Fletcher being decent but not world class

Carrick being pretty poor

Scholes is past it and just fouls everyone

Personally I think Yoann Gourcuff would be a good signing, not sure what he would end up costing though but I cant imagine it would be a crazy fee.

David Villa has been linked with Man Utd recently, can't really say he's a bad player by any means.

Gourcuff has just moved to Bordeaux? I agree it's the type of player we need though. I'd still like David Silva.

He's been on loan there since May 08, then was transferred at a later date. He might not have been there long, but it would hardly be the first instance of fairly rapid club switching :p

He does seem a very decent player and I think he'd fit in well in the centre of the United midfield. As well as being quite young!

I'm just praying we don't have a "Fergie is happy with the team" and ends up signing another "average" few players to train over the season, if we do that we'll likely find ourselves in an awful, awful position, given Chelsea's spending power :(

I'm positive we'll end up with a couple of known players at the very least, who will improve the squad well.

Anyone else think he looks a bit feminine? :p

Obertan is class.

Also, don't slate Carrick: he IS a great player. So what if he doesn't score goals? He has one bad game and everyone is knives out. In my opinion he is an excellent player.

He's had more than one bad game. He's been coasting for months. If he had any of the spirit and fight that Fletcher has (who has less talent) - he would be a fine player. But he doesn't. He likes time on the ball and space and is generally fine when part of a side thats playing really well and dominating possession. But in any match when against a half way decent midfield he goes missing.

Tbh, I find news of this latest signing a little disappointing. He looks very much a capable young player, with some basic quality but who is a long way off playing any real part in our plans next year. Thats not what we need. Not when we have Diouf, Welbeck, Macheda and Owen who are all at a similar level. Instead we should be looking to bring in an established and proven goal scorer to replace Berbatov.
This transfer seems to suggest the money isn't there for that, which probably will also mean the money also isn't there to bring in the one (minimum) top CM and defender we need too.

Gourcuff is brilliant but wouldn't come cheap, Bordeaux would ask around 30m - 40m, he's one of the most promising talents in the world and already a regular for France, he's really popular and their star player.

johnyccc, I couldn't agree more with you on all those points, very well put.

Carrick is an average midfielder. Sure, he plays the odd decent pass as you would expect, but compared to most other CMs, he's poor.

I still think based on his age, and the fact (I think) he would play very well in a Man Utd line up, it would be money well spent.

As I said earlier though, and as re-iterated by johnyccc, it looks like United are trying to "big up" players who really are hot prospects (like this mexican guy), not people that Sir Alex could put into a team at the start of next season and who would perform well immediately, world class players.

I'm sincerely hoping that I'm wrong though, and we manage to get some kind of funding from the mess that are the debt riddled management scumbags :p

i agree, and id like to say lets not buy another player from spurs:D Know nothing about this new striker, hopefully the scouts have done a good job;)
