Would this be the need for a top class midfielder I mentioned in the summer transfer window that everybody said we didnt need Nick?

I wont go into the fact I mentioned the need for a center half, fullback, goal keeper, and striker as well to remain competitive.
He will reinforce all those positions , no matter what he says this summer.

I fully expect the likes of Berbatov, Tosic, Foster, Kuszchackkkkkkk, Diouf, Obertan and Neville to shipped out as well.

Major over haul this summer.

Well Nani wont be sold this summer or looking to be replaced any time soon, he has just signed a new four year contract.

out of how many that have.....

Exactly a VERY tiny percentage of those that come over fail to adapt

The worst thing about Shev was his age when he did come over, was always going to be a difficult task

Also it MIGHT be easier if we bought both Silva and Villa (not that its likely) but they could assist each other which would make any adaption easier

It was widely known by everyone with even a passing interest in football that Shevchenco's ankles were shot to pieces and that he was having troubling fitness issues before he signed for chelsea.

But thats what happens when the chairman signs players.

The problem with united is the team management, Fergie is only as good as his second, Carlos Queiroz was responsible for some of the best football ever seen in the Premier league, and also for telling Fergie when he was getting it wrong.
Nobody tells him he is getting it wrong now, everybody needs somebody to keep them in check.

On another point, no you dont need need a team of 11 superstars, you need a team of 11 good players who complement each other, mabye with one or two of them being superstars.
United do not have this, United have Rooney, Evra, Ferdinand, and Vidic who are excellent, then they have Valencia Nani and Fletcher who are okay in their own ways, then they have a list of has beens, blow outs, busted flushes and simply not good enoughs that include the likes of Berbatov, Giggs, Scholes, O'shea, Carrick, Park, Gibson, Neville, Kuzzzchakkkkk, Owen, VDS, Evans, Obertan, Tosic, Hargreaves and Foster who WOULD NOT get anywhere near the starting line up of any of the other top teams in the league.

Hhhmmmm the top teams in the league, so that would be

Chelsea
Man Utd
Arsenal
Man City
Tottenham

I can almost certainly say that Berbatov would walk straight into the first team of both Arsenal, City & Spurs, O'Shea would also be a marked improvement for both City & Spurs and his versatility would be ideal for Arsenal, Carrick would also walk straight into the Arsenal, City & Spurs midfield, VDS is among the best 3 keepers in the league so would be a massive improvement over Almunia, Evans is one of the best young defenders in the league and Hargreaves when fit would also walk into the starting 11 of Arsenal, City and Spurs

What you actually mean is how many of our players would get in the Chelsea, Barcelona or Real Madrid teams which just proves my point about your sort who unless United can claim to have the best 11 in the world just **** and moan over and over and over again

I dont think you understand what I've written, or more accurately you've had a quick glance at who has written it and done your usual trick of just flying off the handle at a tangent.

Lets put it out there to other fans of all the teams in the league in a poll, we can get a don to put up the squad list and everybody gets to say which players they would welcome in their side, bearing in mind they would have to DROP their current first team player from that position.

Just on a point of fact, who would carrick (playmaker) oust in the arsenal midfield bearing in mind how Arsenal play.
Who would he displace in the spurs midfield? or citys?

Which striker would Berbatov replace in the spurs line up? bearing in mind who they have already? Also, seeing as its looking increasingly likely he is being shipped out in the summer, it seems its finally sunken in with the united management that he doesnt fit in, just like certain fans said he wouldnt.

When you've listed that, read again the preceding line to the players listed, it has several words that describe different states of being.

For instance, saying "a fully fit Hargreaves would walk into any side" is pointless. Hargreaves hasnt played football in nearly two years, he isnt fully fit, he isnt available, and hasnt been available for two years, therefore he isnt going to be walking into anybodies side, at all.

Completely agree with this. As Real Madrid are showing this season, having the best 11 doesn't guarantee you success. This season was always going to be difficult, United lost two of their best players last season, and as a result the squad looks a bit weaker. Possibly the strengths of the first 11 when United still had Ronaldo and Tevez hid the weaknesses in the squad. I think it's over the top to suggest that 10+ players need to go as atpbx suggests. United do, however, need to face the realisation that they lack a truly creative midfielder, that Scholes, Giggs and Neville are getting on a bit (most obvious in Neville's performances IMO), and that Berbatov simply hasn't cut it.

Given the fact that At least of three of the players i've listed WILL be going this summer without question its not over the top.
Big mistakes in how the team has been maintained have been made over the past two years, starting with the failure to sign Tevez after his first season, continuing with the Berbatov debacle, then the failure to address the lack of pace and power in the midfield, on top of the failure to sign a decent replacement keeper, combined with not signing a decent center half.

ALL positions I said needed reinforcing last summer and ALL these positions have been found lacking this season.

I would bet Carrick will still be at OT next season, less certain about Berbatov though (unless we get Milner and Hargreaves has fully recovered) from the British quotiant if nothing else

Personally dont think anyone can even consider Hargreaves any blame - its not like he ever wanted to be injured, or didnt ever try to get fit again, to issue blame on him is pretty rich (and to sell him now just when he is included in a squad is stupidity beyond belief)

I'm not blaming Hargreaves for anything, he cant help being injured, but the fact is, he HAS been injured for two seasons, everyone could see it wasnt something he was going to be coming back from it in a couple of months so he needed replacing until he was fit.
