Is there any reason not to buy one of these.

Essentially I've got my sisters old laptop collecting dust, I said I'd repair it and after a poke around with a multimeter basically ascertained it probably was the power adapter that was at fault with a small chance of it being the charging circuit somewhere far down the line. Then she got a laptop through work and decided not to even get it back.

Anyway, fast forward a year, she wants it back now so has said she'll pay for the power adapter to try get it working (damn, I was enjoying the extra hard drive I stole from it).

Are these universal ones any good, I figure if it doesn't work I'll flog the laptop for spares on ebay and keep the adapter for future testing instead of buying the specific adapter for a laptop which might not even work at all.

I had to buy one recently (for got my charger going on holiday...) and it worked fine. IIRC there are a couple of voltage options to choose and the adaptors are plentiful.

Hope I'm not breaking the rules but if you are interested in buying one I have a Kensington one (the one I got recently) that I don't need... I could stick it up on MM...

Cheers buddy, email in trust how much you want for it and the model and I'll let you know.

If it is breaking the rules I'm not complaining, better than shelling out for a new one.
