.. Im looking for a good quality universal remote.

It'll need to be programmable.. and compatible with:

Xbox 360
Windows MCE
Panasonic TV - Including Freeview guide
Sony Amp

And 1 or two other things maybe..

Anyone got any good suggestions? I have been looking at the Logitech Harmony 555.. although a colour screen would also be nice :)

Not looking to spend over £100.

I think you will stuggle to control MCE with a universal. I went down this route with a cambridge audio all in one touch screen. But in MCE when you scroll up the guide, up the volume etc you have to keep tapping at whatever function you have programmed as you cannot just hold the key down for some reason. This was with MCE 2005 I tried not tried Vista.

Hmm thats actually quite tempting.. Providing i can customise it to learn button functions. I dont need the receiver tho as i got one of them.

Didnt logitech make a remote for the 360 that was MCE compaticle as well.

PS. i wont actually be using Windows MCE it will be a 3rd party software on XP for my HTPC. But the remote needs to be MCe compaticle to work with my IR reciever.

PS. i have seen that "All for One" are releasing a new model called Kalaeon 11 which lets you control PC as well as the usual devices.

Nothing wrong with the remote, you needed to do the debounce registry hack in XP.

If you can increase your budget there's the URC MX-800 for about £160. Far more powerful than Harmony remotes.

Could such a remote work for a 360, PS3, Virgin/Sky box, tv, av receiver and projector?. I'd happily pay through the nose to consolidate all the remotes currently floating around in the lounge.

Easily. Those pc programmable URC remotes can control upto 40 devices (more if you put two+ learnt codes into one. 99 step macros, short cuts, activities..etc.

I had my URC controlling three systems, that's three TV's, two VCR's, 4 DVD players, 2 cd players, 3 amps, av pre-amp and lights. Macros etc.

Give me your make/models and I'll check pre-programmed database. Could have discrete IR codes.

Not true.
My logitech785 universal remote controls the following:

Nad Amplifier
Panasonic TV
LG DVD recorder
Virgin V+ box
Linn Classik
Windows MCE 2005
Mediaportal

All functions, as well as custom buttons, controlled wiithout any problem.

:)
