After a universal remote

Want it to control my Panasonic TV, Samsung Soundbar and my XBMC machine if possible (just a e-machine with linus-xbmc on it)

Not interested in the logitech harmony thing, far too expensive.

I dont use any TV features its just for displaying image from PC or XMBC machine.

what about cec? you can control kodi (xbmc) with a pulseeight usb cec adaptor. Probably the soundbar will support it too. This way you can use the TV controls

sadly, logitech harmony although expensive will do a flawless job. You will still have to spend a bit on alternate solution, obviously bot as expensive as logitech

A Harmony 650 is usually only around 40 quid and is more than enough remote for the OP's needs. There are loads of different harmonies ranging from dirt cheap to expensive.

If £40 is still too expensive then just use your phone/tablet to control things for free.

Ninja'd a Harmony Ultimate for £99.99 in a 'flash Sale' yesterday :D Cancelled the one I had ordered at £159...... Pretty impressed with it so far and I've not finished playing around with it to get it where I want it :D Well worth the cash.

Probably way out out of scope but I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 (built in IR) with Smart IR Remote Software (from play store) and an 8 channel IR blaster I got from eBay (everything tucked away in a cabinet), a little pricey for just being a remote, but is night and day better than the Harmony One Remote I had and allows so much more functionality... Could probably pick one up cheap second hand :)

Harmony 650 on ebay, dirt cheap.

Seriously dont get the Touch for £100 its a gimmick.

I still use a harmony 550! Had it about 10 years and it was a few years old from then!
