I don't like it when developers bring out separate apps for the iPhone and iPad and was thinking for most apps I would probably rather pay double or at least a few quid more for a Universal App.
I don't won't to get into a deep discussion as I know it makes a good revenue stream to charge for 2 separate apps, this is just a question put out there to get people opinion.

Well it's more of a statement.

1. Resources are tight on phones, most have an 8 or 16GB phone
2. It makes no sense to have a universal binary if 1/2 the program is never going to be used.
3. The differing iOS versions between pad and phone make them apps incompatible if the phone version uses iOS4 features.

I agree, if an app has two versions you should be able to buy once and run the native version on whatever device you own. It wouldn't be a case of downloading a huge package that contained everything it needed to run on any device, the app store could work out which version it needed at the point of download.

But as you say, less money to be made.
