Hi, I will have to go through this due to no offers.

Anyway, as the course I applied for is tough to get onto, has anyone ever changed their course choice in clearing?

I had 2 choices originally and aimed for the most difficult one that I wanted most with the aim being I might have another settle for a second choice that I still want anyway. :)

My question is above.

I thought anything was up for grabs in clearing? Like wouldn't medical school rejects end up picking up BMS courses or maybe opting for something completely different?

i didn't make the cut for my original UCAS choices, sadly they took their sweet time telling me this and by the time i knew i had to look, clearing had gone.

ended up an HND at the local tech was the only place that would take me, so i went for it, and i'll be honest i dont regret a thing, it was very valuable experience of the 'hands on' element of the subject that was fun and meant that when i went to uni after i've been doing rather well as i have more experience, understanding of background, and maturity to do the work.

good mate of mine did something similar, wanted to do physics originally but could only get onto civil engineering, then later transferred after first year.

as long as you're going in the right direction to end up doing something you like, then who cares how you got there?

When does clearing start? There is nothing on 'my choices' saying about clearing? It still shows 'extra'.

I know it starts on June 30th but there is nothing yet to add?

Given the cost to you these days of going to Uni, why settle for something that you don't want?

Why did you get no offers and what can you do in the next 12 months to change that if you were to take a year out?

It's a massive life choice you are about to make that will affect you for a long time (assuming you don't have loads of cash to swim in)

Have you got your results already?

If yes, you can start applying through clearing from 30-Jun.
If no, I'm fairly sure you will have to wait for results day.

The clearing list shows the courses that have spaces so, yes, you can change the course for which you are applying but it will have to be on the list and you will need to be able to justify why you are applying for that course / institution bearing in mind your previous choices.

I got no offers because I didn't have the work shadowing nor a B in maths GCSE - retook it twice and got C every time! Also didn't get the 36 distinctions I needed anyway for physiotherapy. Only 24 distinctions and 15 merits so not great.

I had a slight change of heart to my very close second choice which I qualify for which is occupational therapy.

The reason for both choices is easy - I had help from both to walk again etc and it would be nice to give someone the help I had. :) I've spent more time adapting things to suit me and also other people so that may be a better overall change to get into.

The reason for entry this year is easy - I have a house, car, life etc so life will stop me doing it next year.

This.

Don't feel pressured to rush into something you may not want OP. I went to uni but now older I regret what I did because really it's just not something I wanted to do.

Both courses appeal to me so neither one will be a waste. I had a career in finance - now I want a career for life to help people.

Longer I wait the more I need money which then depletes the time I can spend on the course and the pressure. I only have myself to depend on but no one to support. Money only lasts so long.
