Well, I think it's the firewall. Basically, I can't connect to some servers that I desperately need access to but cannot. Is there any way that the majesty of OcUK can throw up, that will allow me to access these servers through this damn firewall?

Much appreciated,
Naffa

Me and naffa were thinking that I could share my internet connection with him using something like hamachi... is this possible?

try and see if they provide access to a UNIX server (most uni's do especially if you're in the Comp.Sci department). Then just use it as a socks proxy for all your internet access.

Usually the UNIX servers are not at all under the same firewall rules.

Tunneling is the way forward. If you can get a VPN out you can do pretty much anything - it should be do-able, but it will probably be fiddly to set up.

Not really, it's just a case of signing up to an OpenVPN provider, installing the package and running an executable.
