Hello,

I am currently a final year student at Bournemouth University conducting a Consultancy Project for Thruxton Motorsport Centre.

Thruxton Motorsport Centre is one of the leading motorsport venues in the UK. The centre boasts the fastest race circuit in the country spanning over 2.3 miles. It hosts major events on racing calendars including The British Super-bike Championship and The British Touring Car Championship. The venue also has a newly constructed, environmentally friendly Skid Pan, which is one of the best facilities of its type in the country, as well as a 1.1km long karting track.

The venue is located just off the A303 near Andover in Hampshire. It is only 90 minutes from London, 60 minutes from Bournemouth and 45 minutes from Southampton. The venue is currently considering expanding its services in a bid to become a multi-purpose venue.

I was wondering if any one was able to help me out on the project I am doing for this report by filling out the questionnaire link below. It will take you less than 10 minutes to complete, and please answer as truthfully as possible.

If you have any questions, don't be afraid to comment.

Sorry about the sales pitch, especially as most of you are aware of Thruxton, but it was to make sure my answers aren't skewed in any way.

Many thanks,

Matt

Done.

The single biggest improvement that Thruxton could make is to improve the spectator viewing areas and facilities. If they are genuinely thinking about adding laser tag and beer festivals instead then I think they are missing the point.

Quite. Sadly though, that'll be too expensive and they clearly sell enough tickets to major events anyway, as it's always been rammed when I've gone, so potentially not much incentive to do that as a result. Adding gimmicks to the downtime though has the advantage of monetising the usual dead time at the circuit.

Would prefer to see them do that by way of trackdays etc. than by paintball and the like though.

Unfortunately the combination of strict noise limitations and the fact it's a fairly dangerous layout kill the track days potential. Other than the VXR days I've only ever seen Thruxton run a track day once in about the last 5 years.

Unfortunately they are looking for other marketing opportunities to make the centre more multipurpose. They are already trying to update the facilities by building a new hospitality centre and improving the pit lanes. But as said before, they are only allowed 16 noisy days a year, and a few of them are race days.

But thank you for completing the survey for me, it's much appreciated.
