That's not a great attitude and one that won't get your very far in a degree. Get some books out of the library, have a proper read of the assignment specs and just get on with it. I did a similar college course to yours and I had a similar attitude. I wound up with 180 UCAS points (that's equivelant of having a B and C at A level) and was severely limited to places I could go. I ended up in the hell hole that is Plymouth.
 
shirt, tie, smart trousers and jacket/suit. Make a good impression on them.

If you have a portfolio of the work you have done then make sure it is up to date. Be prepared for any technical questions. good luck :)
 
Directions wise, straight off the M6, junction 14... from there you'l see signs for the uni...

TBH mate, I wouldn't go in a suit. Just dress casually - me and my mate went for our interviews there last year (currently at the end of the 1st yr studying computing science)... and all but one guy were wearing normal casual clothes. This other guy was wearing a suit and me and my mate were laughing at how out of place they are. Interviews are just really informal - I just chatted about football in mine (Shows how good the uni is ;))...

I don't live there (did for 4 monthes), but commute now from Stoke. The actual university is really nice, everything seems in good condition and the computing facilities are top notch... the area however is fairly quiet, one decent club that just passes as decent. Problem with Staffordshire uni is that its split over 3 campuses, stoke, stafford and lichfield. Stoke being the main one, which is why I moved back home so I could get back out on the town :p

As for those saying don't wear jeans and a top, I went in trackies and a sports top! AND I got my offer reduced from 300 points to 260 :) due to the interview.

Depends what you want to do there. I'm going to do comp sci & networking and they have a good networking department. The whole comp sci dept is pretty good, and the profs seem alright to me.

Would have to pass on that specific course, but I know in Technology they're generally quite good. A friend is doing some form of tech course there and loves it.

Plymouth is a great place, too :)

Same here. Went to Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester in dirty ripped jeans and a hoody. They all gave me offers below the norm due to my interviews. I wouldn't want to go somewhere that would judge me more on my clothes than my personality/intelligence and my mother agreed.
 
best advice i can give you is to become a parrot :) repeat everything he says for example " why do you want to study blah blah " and youjust repeat that and keep doing it :) trust me you will get in strate away
 
just finishing comp sci here (final 4th year) :)

As has been said, the uni itself has great facilities and the staff for the most part are friendly and helpful.. there are some genuinely bad eggs though, really useless (think you probably get that at most places though)

Halls are a laugh in the first year but beyond that this place is more dull than watching paint dry whilst drinking a pint of "grey." The union is great (as far as unions go) but its where you have to spend most of your life :( Theres a reason unions arnt great at other uni's, its cos theres better things to do!!

Anyway, its an easy life here, no crime to speak of, very quiet nights out etc but it doesnt half get to you :) Placement scheme is good though i got to spend 13 months with HP.

I would wear a suit for the interview myself. Although you might be the only one, as long as yuou dont look totally uncomfortable in the suit wheres the harm in being smartly dressed?

Finally, and this is the kicker, as this is an RAF and prison (and now technical uni) town the female population that is non burberry wearing and above the age of consent is a little... er.. sparse... you can always travel to the stoke campus oc but thats a lot of effort.... they recently changed the official friday union night from BSE (beer sex education) to something else as it was simply a blatant lie..... its not important for some people (you may in fact be a girl!!! Though i doubt it with all the talk of suits) but its something else to think about.

Also... is your interview on the 31st? If so the place is locked down cos the queen is coming to open the new film studio....

Yeah my interview was at Imperial. Didn't have an interview as such at Bristol, I was just invited for an open day and the staff had a list of applicants to talk to. So I'm guessing they weren't expecting anything formal. A few people at the Imperial interview were wearing suits but plenty weren't.
 
Dress smart, but in something that you feel comfortable to wear. Just be confident, have an upright posture and don't look bored :D Ask questions, if anything, this will buy you some time but it shows you actually have an interest in whatever you are studying :)

Everyone who I was with at my interview went in Jeans and a T-Shirt.

It depends what type of person you are. If you like wearing a shirt then go for that, otherwise it's gonna be clear if you uncomfortable. :cool:

It'll probably be a lot nicer next year once all the building work is done. The University itself is OK, not that I have much to judge it against. It seems a lot more modern than Exeter where my girlfriend goes (and I'm moving to next year, hooray).

I'm doing Internet Technology and the facilities available to us are pretty good although the course isn't all that coherant. My brother does Digital Art and he really likes it. I've been impressed by some of the things they are doing, if you want to know a little more about it I can probably get some information out of my brother.

Beansprout: Is that BSC Computer Science and Networks? I believe I share several modules with them.
