Ok, i'm feelin a bit cut up about the fact that im gona have to leave my girlfriend of over 2 years behind when i go to university in september. Everytime i think about it it just kills me and what makes it SO much worse is that i know nobody else who will be going away to university that will be leaving a girlfriend/boyfriend behind so i just feel proper on my own here. Don't reallly know how to deal with it and can't talk to any of my m8s about it cos most of them are single or aren't going to uni this year.

Anyone out there in the same boat?

cheers :(

Why do you have to leave her?

So he can get with all the fresher girls :p hubba hubba.

Nah it's probably because she is a bit younger and not at University, or perhaps going to a different one.

I had to leave my gf ... you don't want to know what happened if you're feeling a bit cut up about it

The UK is tiny. It's impossible to have a "long distance relationship" in the UK :p

Maybe you're leaving her for hot loose drunk uni girls though, look on the bright side :)

Yeah she's a year younger than me and she's a bit of a "worryer" so she'd go out of her mind if i was at uni gettin wasted everyday. plus she'd be doing her a-levels and has a part time job and i just wouldn't see her much at all....

VaderDSL, not sure if i wana hear it, but go ahead anyway, i'm gona experience it in 3 months, might as well brace myself...

Well it was basically left my gf to go to Manchester, she went to Glasgow, met new people, it ended, we haven't spoken in over a year.

But that's because we are both quite lazy :) if we had any desire to keep it going we could have, I'm sure you'll be ok you sound like the type of guy who makes an effort.

I mean I'm so lazy a girl I liked platted my hair while she was bored ... i kept her hair band and counted that as a successful date lol. Because avtually going out for a drink with her was too much like hard work :p

If you have to be around each other every other day for the relationship to work, then it probably wouldn't have worked for very long anyway. So don't worry about it. If it doesn't work out, it wouldn't have worked out in the end anyway.

Absolutely. If not, webcam. :D

Na, i think we've kinda both agreed we're gona have to break it off when i go as there will be too much pressure with me trying to come back and see her and making it fit into her schedule as well. I think we're definately still gona see each other on holidays etc (but not as g/f b/f) just kinda friends/bfgf. TBH i dont really know how its going to work. I guess im just going to have to play it out. I dont need to see her every day, but we're talkin about 3-4 weeks at a time without seeing her, and thats still going to be pressured seeing her that much.

BAD IDEA.

If you don't discuss it properly you'll both end up having hell.

Yeah i agree, but i think we've agreed that we won't go out when i go away, but how to discuss with a girl you've been going out for 2 years that we will cease to be going out from September 9th onwards.

Lol, that got a smile from me (well played mate, you're in there!!)

EDIT: And it would bode REALLY well for me if i was on webcam to my g/f from uni and a naked black dude was walking around behind me.... :p

It's long distance if you can't just pop round when you feel like it.
Arr I knew someone would say that, so my plan then was to talk about the "it probably wouldn't last anyway" aspect, but that's already been covered....so now all I can say is: "too right :("

:)

:\

Make sure you know what's going on, otherwise it'll end in more tears than it has to.

I'm in a similar boat. In the way that myself and my girlfriend both graduate soon. Except she's Irish and is moving back to Dublin at the end of August to further study medicine.

No way out of this one, we've only just started seeing each other and to stay over here for me would be stupid.

It upsets me but what can you do?

Shame, as Irish girls are awesome.
