University lecturer?

For 2 years I had 3 students who were definitely diagnosed with aspergers and how he writes and replies and takes things in, is exactly how they were.
The email to me confirmed it and I had similar emails off my students.
Even his reply above "Who is Mrs Dimple lol? funny name..." is not right because absolutely no-one else on the forum would have said that.
Mrs Dimple (My wife of 31 years yesterday) works with autistic/aspergers kids for about 15 years so knows her stuff and after showing her his posts also 'thinks' he has aspergers but wouldn't know until she is in front of him for a few hours.

hi sorry to bother you I woudl send pm but its not possible. I know i think I have aspergers but my doctor wont do squat and this also really makes it hard for me to get or keeep a job amongst other things (and part of my ''agorpahobia'' maye not agorapobia just symptoms and sensitivites of autism brought on by certain situations which are also agorahobia stuff).

Your wife works in the autistic field? Do you know personally if you can be diagnosed officaily ? and how so? and is there any help/benfit for asperger people at all?

thanks

Not really, it's just that when users contest moderation it does bare the question...

What question?

I disagree that the deleted comment I made was outside the context of the thread or the light hearted nature of the banter, there was no malice intended on my part as I thought was made quite clear by the context of both the thread and the post itself. For this reason I stated I would rather leave the thread than be subject to what I consider overzealous moderation. You may disagree as is your want, however it doesn't warrant any confusion or implication that I was forced to be here to begin with.

Ah, so it's OK for people to spam the forums with inane **** yet when people pick them up on it, it's classed as going off-topic. Nice. :)

So the OP has self-diagnosed Aspergers? There's a surprise. dmpoole - how on earth can your wife 'think' (sic) that he may have it given she has never met or spoken with him? From his posts? That's even worse than self-diagnosing.

He's another socially awkward guy who loves to post about himself on a computer forum, play video games, not leave the house and watch pron. This is far from unique, in fact it's almost a staple for a computer forum.

And OP - an Actuary? Really? Really? The most effective troll is one who keeps his audience thinking it might still be real. B-, see me after class.

Personally, I am after a teaching fellowship. Just finished my PhD and doing a PGCE this year - hoping there will be some teaching fellows on offer next year when I need them!

Absolutely no way is this correct.
I've just pulled my wife and her 3 mates (all teachers) over to the screen to read that and they are all laughing.
You have got to have missed something out from that cut & paste.
Think about it, do you think you could walk up an average street in Britain, knock on the door and find that 30% of that street have got a degree or higher?
I can take you to areas where they haven't got a cycling proficiency certificate between them which means that other areas must be near a 100% degree rate.
Surely that's got to be something like 30% of people who went to Higher Education (College and further) ended up with a degree or equivalent.

The stats aren't claiming that around 30% of people have degrees, but qualifications to degree level (admittedly a flimsy definition).

I'm sure you could easily show me streets where nobody has a degree, equally I could show you blocks of flats and streets where vritually everyone has a degree.

Cant help but agree - also think this is turning into an inane medical thread while the original request is now a parody of one of the several OPs the OP has made...

The post may have been deleted but above I did mention that there were signs in his replies, how he posts and the email he sent but SHE WOULDN'T KNOW UNTIL SHE IS IN FRONT OF HIM FOR A FEW HOURS.

Hope that as cleared it up.

In Stoke I can show you areas where nobody turned up for school let alone get a GCSE.
I'm finding this 30% with a qualification equal to a degree very hard to take in especially in my area.
Somebody somewhere must have fudged these results to make us look good worldwide.

It'll just be a national average though won't it? The results for Salford or Bolton for example will be completely different to say Windsor, Winchester or somewhere equally affluent.

You either believe them or you don't. They are the figures and we're unlikely to ever know if they have been fudged or not.

I can quite easily believe that near 30% of adults have qualifications to what they describe as 'degree level'.

I don't agree with their definition mind you:

People are counted as being qualified to level 4 or above if they have achieved a first or higher degree, an
NVQ level 4 or 5, a recognised degree-level professional qualification; an HNC/HND or other higher-level
vocational or management qualification, a teaching or nursing qualification; or a diploma in Higher Education.
