University lecturer?

anyway id rather be a pornstar/rockstar than a physicist.

how boring to be an academic. Its not soemthing Id brag about. Id rather brag about my 10 incher

but

1. I hate working

2. I am agoraphobic somewhat

3. I have aspergers/autism

4. I am lazy

5. I prefer to work on my own

6. I hate being formal and work social/formal aspects

So, really that more relevant to employment than maths ability

Doesn't it annoy you that people who you consider to be beneath you, but have a better work ethic are earning far more and are far more successful in life in general?

Far more talented people than you have wasted countless opportunities for being lazy, so you're not special in that regard.

Laziness is a habit rather than anything inherent to "you" - fix it.

Just get a job.

After spending time filling out another series of applications for jobs I really want, I am warming to the idea of cleaning a pub or working in the corner shop. Anything.

You think the world owes you a living? It doesn't. Just get a job.

ermm Population wise I am very high on the education scale...How many % of people have 2.1 degree or even 5 a levels a,a,a,b,b.

Sports Science or not. I excelled 1st year physics. I changed to sports scince for pleasure. I get no kicks to boast about being clever or not clever. All I am saying is I dont want to do no menial boring mundane job. I enjoy studying and learning and hate office work and physical work.

As for what and how I type on an internet forum when Im bored and unemployed to base me off that??? Well, I think you should concede to be the dumb one.

Not that I am trying to have a competition with you. You are irrelevant. I ask about uni lecture career and now I decide it is not for me.

Considering I have far better A level grades than you do and several more degrees (which I gained while actually working at the same time) then I see no need to concede to your self acclaimed greatness, as comparatively speaking you are my inferior.

I too enjoy study and research, but unlike you I have decided to return to it by applying myself and actually working to gain the necessary qualifications and knowledge to do so.

This is what BetaNumeric was trying to tell you, you want to become a lecturer or a researcher, then you have to apply yourself and adjust both your attitude and work ethic.

If you do not, you will simply be another unemployable bum regardless of your claims to the contrary.

Maybe I'm paranoid or maybe I've been on the internet too long but does anyone else wonder if compboyo and BetaNumeric are the same person?
I've been called a lot of things in my time but sport scientist? Sir, I challenge you to a duel! :p

I've actually been a member here since pre-2000 under the username 'AlphaNumeric'. Look at member 21 on the forums.

I was just stating im not an uneducated doughball...
You just admit to being lazy, play games all day and have no clue about jobs. Besides, education is more than just grades, particularly university. It's about growing up.

And in terms of population easily within 5% off top humans in UK.
Top humans? What else do people usually compare you to where you have to add in the qualifier 'human'?

condsider that 50% leave school 16? maybe 5% get as good A levels as me then 2% get a 2.1 + degree....In terms of adult population? I dont know the stats but Im sure they are not far off.
Typical A Level grades now are around BBB, so you're hardly surging ahead. Like I said before, the sort of people who do high level research battered their A Levels, not scrapped A's with a few B's.

You think you're a big fish but you don't realise just how large a gap there is between you and the people really at the top, the top 0.001%. At Cambridge for maths you can answer as many questions as you can do in the time. The top person got 3 times the amount needed for a 1st, a 1st at Cambridge in maths. That is what the top people do.

So I should be able to and want a decent job.
Qualifications are just part of getting a job. The company I work for requires a minimum of a PhD and we reject 199 out of 200 applicants.

Like I said, you need some life education, either to learn or to spend your time doing something other than trolling.

Its true but it doesnt annoy me as Im not motivated by money (though I wouldnt complain for more money), (alos I wouldn't say beneath as that is rude. they have better work ethic and social skills but arent as good at maths/study or whatever)

Like I say Im really just a hippy. as long as I got my guitar, football and video games Im happy.

To be fair not always, iron defficency, over/under active thyroid, depression and other conditions can make it incredibly hard for someone to be pro-active, sometimes without the condition fully presenting and hence being easily diagnosed. Not thats any excuse for laziness in general.

I decided i dont want to be a lectruer.

I am not saying I am great now.

In high school I was the greatest. FACT..I have the awards to prove it.

But its like the dude who was best at football at my school does not even play non-league football as an adult.

Ok some dude at another school was the best at football and plays for a premier league team. but is not C.ronaldo.

I was the best at school at a range of subjects then I went to uni but I ended up not C.ronaldo of edcuation because I didnt care. But in terms of my education i am still a premier league player not non-league.

like I say I got da persoanilty of ali g but I still got da eduational skillz son

Ali G (or at least the actor portraying him) was educated at Cambridge, so no, you don't have the eduational (sic) skills of him :p

Answer to OP: computer says no.

As far as football analogies go, you are not even the Benny Hill of education and he never played pro football.

lol u have me all wrong.

1. I am not proclaiming to be some kind off academic big fish and would get no pleasure or joy in doing so. Id rather brag about the number of hot girls I have bedded or that I am amazing on guitar though Im not....yet

2. I got 95%+ for most of my a levels so hardly scraped by. ANd i dont say this to be ''cool'' or whatever just stating a fact.

3. My work skills/ethic suck barre my ability to pass exams/assignemts which means little in a full time job.

brign up some real stats please?

how many people leave school with no education?

How many leave after o levels?

how many sit a-level and achieve straight A's

how many fo to a top Uk university?

how many get a degree with 2.1+?

In terms of % off population..

Now we have teen mums, smackheads, construction workers, chefs, mechanics, tradesmen, office workers, drug dealers, bums etc...etc..

I think the % of people that have 2.1 degrees or above is very low.

Not proclaiming im godlike just stating a fact

The undeserved sense of entitlement and self importance is just staggering...

Not unusual for a recent graduate though, given the amount of smoke you get blown up your **** at uni these days, it's easy to see why so many grads expect to walk into £30k jobs with no effort at all.

Around 50% of undergrads get a 2.1, around 11% a 1st. Around 20% of the population have a degree.

However if we extrapolate that you are in the under 35 demographic then the percentage rises to about 48% with a degree or professional equivalent then within your peer group you are about average, if not below average given your choice of degree subject.

If you take my demographic, over 40s then the percentage of people who went to university is much lower, however the range of subjects and the groups University served was much narrower so someone with 5 A levels in 1980 will be in a higher percentile of their peer group than someone with a 2.1 degree in 2010.

I'm sure someone like BetaNumeric could actually give you a formula for calculating your relative position within your peer group taking in all the relevant variables, I am not a mathematician however, although given your alleged genius for maths you should be able to calculate just how average or below average you actually are when the variables are considered and accounted for.

I thought compboyo wanted to be a musician and teach guitar?
He also doesn't want to leave the house and work with other musicians but perhaps write hit records.
Make your mind up compboyo.

I wouldnt wanna be Issac Newton or whatever.

I don't think there's much else I need to say in regard to the rest of this thread but I love the idea that there's the slightest chance that you (or indeed anyone else here) is vaguely comparable to one of the great scientists and polymaths of all time - perhaps most amusing is the implication that it's only because you don't really fancy it that you're not going to be on a level...

There are some very smart people on these forums but I think that most would acknowledge that there's a vast gulf between being pretty damn clever and being an all-time genius. In my not very vast experience the cleverest people tend to be amongst the first to recognise their limitations.

lmfao looooooooooooooool

20% of population ahve a degree...so 1 in 5 people have a degree!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahhahaha

sorry but

hahahahahahahahhaha

I know at least 100+ people and I am the only one who even done highers.

Maybe cause I hang about with retards or too many drug dealers I guess?

I play football in a league and in all the teams you are lucky if one player even went to uni in any off the teams...Maybe the population off 'footballers' have low intellignece though.

but 1 in 5 people have a degree I never heard such BS in my life.

50% get at least 2.1....So 1 in 10 people in the world or UK at least has a 2.1 degree....OMG lmfao...never heard such BS

then 10% get a 1st.

so you are saying 1 in 5 people have a degree with 10% of this a 1st therefore

2% off the population have a 1st degree. This means if I approach 50 random people 1 off them will have a 1st class degree? (from a top uni?)

If I approach 5 random people, 1 off them will have a degree.

I dunno where you live but unless I walk around the uni campus I think this is extremley unlikely.
