Well I'm now at a quandary due to the iMac update and pricing.

I could either buy the lowend Macbook & Dell 2007fpw for around £900 or go for the lowend iMac for £680, save a bit of money but be annoyed that I've lost the portability. University wise, what would be the best plan of action in your eyes, I'd definitely be getting a better deal with the iMac but I'm torn because I wouldn't be able to move it around.

Decisions, I think I'm in the same boat as jesta here.

Yeah that's true, I imagine I wouldn't take my laptop to lectures but I know that it'd be nice to have a change of scenery once in a while aka outside, a café or the library and not have to worry about queuing for one of their pc's when it's busy.

Hmm decisions... I was planning on taking my SNES and possibly run that on the 2007wfp but apparently that doesn't work / would look awful but I don't fancy having to take a portable TV much, ohhh welll....

I'm thinking to go for the macbook & dell 2007wfp despite how much it hurts me not getting an iMac, but that'll be something for the future, problem is now I need to save up a bit more money as I need to buy an external mouse, keyboard and speakers lol :p

I've just ordered the middle macbook myself with plans to ditch my PC and just use the macbook on my Dell 2007WFP. Partly I want to deprive myself of the temptation of playing games (I have the 360 for that  ) and partly I want the portability that a 13" laptop will hopefully offer.
Snap. Macbook + 2007WFP for me at uni I've decided now. I'm going to meadowhall today with my UCAS application letter and if all goes to plan then I might be the owner of one but I'm going to try force them into throwing a dvi adaptor thing in there though. Leopard I can wait for 'til the end of October but I can't be without a computer for near 2 months I don't think so should be good. :)

It's always worth a try and you've got nothing to lose by asking.

Meadowhell
God yeh, I lived in Sheffield for 8 years of my life and I hated that place, total hell especially the food section at the oasis, *shudder* oh well they've got an apple shop, Leeds doesn't, and I'm in town today so I thought I'd pop by...

I've had my macbook since wednesday now, got the middle spec with a wireless mouse and the 3yr waranty, saved a lot with the education discount which was gooood. Really liking OSX and I think I made the right decision about portability, problem is though now I'm really compelled to buy 2gb of ram, not because I think it's lacking but just because I want it. haha.

How would I use that to prove I'm a student if I placed an order over the phone?
When I was in the store in meadowhall they used my ucas application number on the sheet and stuff like that, so you'd need that to hand.

I'm planning on getting a Dell 2007wfp, my dad can get claim VAT returns so that's another saving lol, then I'm all set, loving OSX, great decision. :)
