Hey,

I got a 'C' for an exam result...obviously the pass mark is 40 but i have 38 but instead of 'F', i have 'C'...so am i re-taking or do i just need to wait and see if it changes?

Bit confused. :(

You might get compensated as mentioned.. think it depends on your other grades and stuff as well. They allow for a bit of leeway either side of grade boundaries.

Just seen the post above...so far i have passed everything with marks on average 50 or perhaps just beneath...however i have one re-take so far which is not good - 16 for Psychobiology. :(

email your tutor and ask them.

Okay, if i can remember her name as no-one has met her yet - she's German! :o

38 is usually a soft fail. IIRC as long as everything else is satisfactory you should be fine. Either way, 2 marks off is a ball ache. Means you need to revise now only to get an extra 2% as you'll be capped at 40% anyway.

Is this 1st year?

Normally on the back of the papers they send they have the explanation of codes - mine did anyway. A full page of codes....how much time do unis waste being nice to people who get <40%! I was surprised not to see a "compassionate fail, dog ate work after cat died from eating favourite goldfish" :p

Note: I submitted extenuating circumstances this term so I'm all for the system really :)

I had something similar in my first year at uni. Got a compensated pass in one of my subjects as I narrowly failed an exam but had good coursework for the rest of the semester.

Usually on the back of the results sheet (at my uni anyway) they had all the gradings, what it meant and who to ask questions too if needed.

You won't need to re-take the exam and by the sounds of it managed to scrape through by the skin on your ass.

Congrats :D

My tutor is a legend. He wears a bow tie and talks to us about neurotoxicology.
