Just upgraded a few things in my sytem... asus a8n-e, x1900xt & 4400x2 and did a fresh install of XP. Service pack 2, latest directx, nforce4 drivers etc have been put on.

In device manager I now have 3 "unknown devices" and windows asks me to look for drivers every time I boot.

I've been thru the BIOS an disabled everything that I have no use for.

Any1 got any ideas what these devices are plz?

Hate to go off subject...But how is the board running currently? Well? Other than the few unknown devices of course :)

I take it your using the onboard sound and things?

Have a look at what you've actually got in your system, and whats on the back of the board, see if anythings missing from the Device manager...May help.

Thanks for replies ppl.

Apart from the unknown devices everything is working fine. Hell, I haven't even had any problems at all with the 6.3 Cats :D

I managed to identify each of the 3 devices by navigating around the cd's supplied with the x1900xt and a8n-e.

1. ATK0110 ACPI utility
2. ATI WDM specialised MVD Codec
3. ATI WDM Rage Theater Video NSP

Strange that the cat 6.3 and latest nforce4 driver sets didn't contain the necessary drivers for these devices

Should I install these drivers off the CD's? If so, where on earth do I get updated drivers for these devices?

Sorry for the nub questions

Get the ATI WDM drivers from ATI. There is a separate download for these if you need it.
Dunno about the other one.

The motherboard has Soundcard, SATA controller, Nvidia chipset.

Download Realtek ALC850 from Realteks site, not Asus as they have the latest drivers (I use Realteks 882) I also had yellow exlamation marks for sound, and the Silicon Image 3131 SATA controller (again went to SI site they have newer drivers)
