I just installed my brand spanking new x1800XT 256mb, replacing my x850xt.
All done properly, driver cleaner safe mode bla bla

Installed new Drivers, rebooted BIOS logo colour is all currupted but everything seemed ok other than that.

Now windows is asking me to install Drivers for 6 unknown devices???

Anyone experienced this or knows what i should do??

Unless its effecting performance id ignore them. I've got two unknown devices for my x1900xt too with installed omega drivers. No idea how to get rid of them, but tbh im quite happy with its performance so Im not too bothered.

I would have thought it was the WDM drivers as well, I'd say indie_85's devices are anyway. Are you using the official catalyst drivers Bones? I'd just leave them until you encounter any issues to be honest.

Yer I tried downloading the WMDs from ATI, but they're still there. I then tried uninstalling omega drivers, but it wouldnt let me! (would something like driver cleaner override that?)
In addition to this, ATi tray tools which came with it doesnt recognise the card, but I gather from other people this is common problem with x1900 cards. So short of reinstalling windows I guess im stuck with omega drivers, which i really cant be bothered doing at the moment.

Heh heh heh. No wonder your computer can't find the devices it's looking for :D

If the drivers are stuck on your computer you'll probably have to delete all the driver's files manually and then use driver cleaner in safe mode. I think there are a few guides showing you how to do this if I remember correctly.

I had an unknown device when I installed my X1800XT, so I let it search the CD that came with it and it turned out to be some Rage Maxx Theatre or somesuch driver.

Yeah I reinstalled windows last night for a spring clean, and there where a few things with my X1900XT (which was recognised as an XTX???) including the Rage theatre chip - if this thread is still going I will see what i can find when I get home around 8.30ish tonight

I had an unknown device... for some reason when i updated my bios it sorted it.. actually updating the bios has sorted a few issues.

I never flashed the bios.. i have an asus deluxe board which had a december version of bios... (from box) but once ive flashed to the latest bios it is running smooth as silk.. everything is sorted.

If you havent tried it, worth a shot :p

lol am I the only other person that got that :D :p

I would think that its due to the Omega drivers, you can uninstall them from the start menu, it wont uninstall from Add?remove for some reason.

Yeah i tried manually uninstalling them via remove/add programs, but it came up with 'failed to initialise' or something. Maybe I should let it search for the drivers on the disc that came with the card, might be something specific to HIS?

EDIT: Bingo! WDMs were on the disc, dont know why the ones from ATI website didnt work, but there you are. Was the ATI WDM range theatre video NSP and ATI WDM specialised MVD codec

I think you must have been unlucky mate as I downloaded the whole CCC version of 6.4 the other day for a fresh windows install and everything including the NSP and MVD codec where found without cd just by running the d/l setup

edit.... glad you sorted it though

Seems you experienced exactly the same thing I did, but mine is by Sapphire Tech.
