Unknown Horizons, formerly called OpenAnno, is an Anno 1602 remake. It’s open-source, multi-platform and contains everything needed to play. It’s still in development and you are invited to collaborate.

Unknown Horizons is a 2D realtime strategy simulation with an emphasis on economy and city building. Expand your small settlement to a strong and wealthy colony, collect taxes and supply your inhabitants with valuable goods. Increase your power with a well balanced economy and with strategic trade and diplomacy.

Love Anno games but the latest one just isn't the same without the sailing ships and stuff.

Downloading this and gonna give it a go. Might also have to re-install my copy of 1404 too now

I have just installed it and would need to spend more time to see its differences but you can read about some of them in the link I provided.
