Currently with O2 but they contacted me to say that 30/40 gig a month is apparently considered to be a heavy user..... So does anyone know of any unlimited download ISP?

None are truely unlimited as massive downloaders affect other users.

I am with Sky Unlimited and I download a fair old whack and I have never been throttled or been sent a letter.

BE is good for heavy use.

If your only using 30-40gig a month then the BT "unlimited" package isn't too bad as you won't feel the traffic management at that level really.

Both idnet and AAISP do decent well priced packages for people using <50gig a month.

Umm, if O2 is chasing him for 40 gig then hes on bts network, you can download 400 on O2/Bes llu...

If hes on bt, he cant get BE llu, exchange info would be helpful.

+1 For Sky Unlimited, people call their Customer Service but l've alway's found them ok. A couple of time's l've had a problem with my connection and it's alway's been sorted out.

l suppose it help's knowing a little bit about broadband and you can tell them you have done all the check's first at your end before you phone them.

I'm with virgin and their unlimited plan seems pretty unlimited, I racked up about 500Gb last month and we've never had a problem with them

Unlimited yes but their caps ie download limits and then 75% download restrictions during day time are ridicules, but virgin is very good if you want to do your downloads over night, after 9pm.

+1 for Sky solid 20mb all the time ;) But I am very lucky with my phone line but they have always been helpful with any issues I've had and I've had a lot (well my parents house).

i have been using be for ages and never monitor my usage as they have never slowed me down ever despite loads of iplayer / steam usage (including a complete steam reinstall a few months back

Well seems like O2 are unwillingly to provide information on the amount of bandwidth that they consider are average users although many on the O2 forum have mentioned 20gig as the cap.

Looks like i shall be moving to plusnet with there 60gig on peak + unlimited off peak service.

Although Zen are a bit more expensive they are great. Their tech support is just fab - they answer the phone and they all know what they are talking about.

I would not change to any other ISP.
