looking to buy a P35 board sometime soon and use 6400 RAM with it, does anyone know if the asus or the gigabyte boards allows the ram to run unlinked just incase? i don't wanna get a brilliant clocking chip then find myself limited by the fact the ram can't cope and can't be put on a divider. i'm upgrading from a 939 so forgive me if i've got some of the technicalities wrong :)

The P35 chipset doesn't have such a feature - lowest that you can go is 1:1.
Some PC6400 performs way above it's rated speed though if you increase volts & relax timings.

Get some PC5300 Crucial Ballistix (Yes PC5300!). It'll clock in excess of 1000mhz, usually closer to 1150mhz.
