unlock 02 contract iphone

I have the chance of buying 2 iphone 3gs phones. They arent stolen or anything dodgy but They are currently on a contract. Would I be able to get these phones unlocked So I could use my vodafone contract sims in them

I'm trying this at the moment with O2 but seem to have a problem. Got a text back saying it was unsuccessful. O2 customer support reckon that the iPhone has to be on their network for 6 months before they unlock it. I said it doesn't say that on the website. The rep then said he'd get O2 customer support to call me in 2 days to with a solution. Fingers crossed....

wouldnt be surprised. Vodafone wont unlock their iphones till the contract has finished. So thats 18/ 24 months then.

I unlocked my 3GS 10 months into an 18 month o2 contract recently. It took 3 days.

woot, my unlatch sms came through this morning, 13 days after filling in the details online. It took a few calls to O2 customer services as well, but they were really helpful.
