if memory serves me correctly... it is a wire trick to unlock a P4??????

It's a 1.7ghz P4 none hyperthreading... socket 748 I think.... 400 mhz FSB....

Anyone got any info?

Not possible to unlock multiplier on stock P4's.

The wire mod is a Voltage ID mod or VID mod, which tells the motherboard the CPU's required voltage. I did this on a P4 2.4 to get a little more volts for overclocking.

The P4 1.7 is 256 cache, and is a very very poor overclocking chip, best to look for a cheap upgrade second hand starting with members market here if you have enough posts.

I just sold all my P4's

from 1.7, 2.0, 2.4 and 2.8, all incramental upgrades....

Also, what motherboard yo got, that will dictate somewhat where the upgrade path will lie....
 
theres a pencil mod for athlon XPs though that increase the Fsb to that of its server variant, maybe thats what you were thinking of.
 
mitch got it right.... I knew their was one....

I can't for the life of me think what the board is..... I think it's QDI knetis or something.... 400mhz.... runs the ram at 100 even though it's 133 so I've dropped the timings to the min....

I want access to the members market but last time I looked I couldn't see it????
 
trust allready enabled... but I can't see members market anywhere....

I did email forum help a few months ago and got no reply so I lost interest....
