Unlock Phenom II x2 on Shuttle

Just bought one of these beasts, a Verso Avenger

I've spent ages searching on Google and have already updated the BIOS firmware to the latest, but can't seem to find a way to unlock any more cores.

Anyone had experience/success of this with the Shuttle SN78SH7 and a Phenom II X2 3.0GHz black edition?

You can only unlock if their is a 'Core Calibration' feature on your Mobo BIOS

I think its unlikely a mobo in a Pc of this type, will have such a feature.

It is also likely that getting the latest BIOS revision will remove such features as AMD are trying to stop people using the chips in such ways.

On a PC like that I would be cautious due to the extra heat creation.

Yeah, good point, when i unlock my 550 to a quad, with the extra volts needed, it adds 10c to its max temp.

With nvidia chipset you need Nvidia Core Calibration

I dont think you can unlock extra cores on all of them, iv got a phenom x3 720 & my board has got the Core Calibration option but my pc then refuses to boot up when i enable it

That could mean that your extra core is dud.

I've installed the latest BIOS from the Shuttle website, using AWDflash on a bootable floppy, fun! Should that have enabled an extra option within the BIOS as the only difference I noticed was the option to change the Core stepping value

Vandiesel - would the Nvidia Core Calibration appear as an option/value within the BIOS? Or somewhere else?
