just a quick question went to collect 32g 4s today from cpw unlocked as i use 2 sims for different areas where reception is poor and was told by the guy that as soon as i inser my sim the phone will lock to that network can someone confirm if this is correct

Never heard of it happening, out of curiousity how did they unlock it? as far as I'm aware the only way to unlock iPhones is either Ultrasn0w or adding your IMEI to Apples database

maybe wrong choice of words is was sim free which i thought was the same ?

SIM free = you can use any SIM card in it, in my experience, if you want to use a different SIM you may have to restore it first

not sure if CPWs are different but the best thing for you in this situation would be to buy direct from apple, they're unlocked and unlockable, I've had a couple of sims in mine.

got one from exeter apple store, unlocked and tried my three sim and o2 and both working dont understand why cpw have done this i thought the whole point of paying 600 upfront for the phone would be for people that use multiple sims and could pick and choose which provider gives you the best signal. cheers everyone for your input.
