Unlocked iPhone replaced, new one not unlocked?

So I had an ip4 on O2 a few years back, and got it unlocked by O2 to enable me to move to another carrier (giffgaff as it turned out)

Then I smashed my phone and apple kindly swapped it out.

I assumed this one would be unlocked too, and has worked fine on my giffgaff sim, but i tried a voda and 3 sim and both wouldnt work. Tesco did (probs no surprise).

I think my apple-replaced ip4 has locked itself to giffgaff/tesco, so is there anything I can do? I can't imagine O2 will help, what about apple? When I asked about my unlocking my bros phone they said call the carrier, but this isntheir fault this time?

Any suggestions?

If it had been correctly unlocked Apple should carry the unlock over. You might want to talk to O2 because the same thing happened to me, if O2 say it is unlocked I think Apple will then do it for you but they won't unlock it unless O2 tell them. I thought my phone had been unlocked but it hadn't, what I had to do was stick my mates O2 sim in the phone, make a phone call, then go onto their website and get it unlocked again. It was free and a bit of a hassle but had to be done!

Well it worked for a while on the GG sim after I unlocked it/before apple swapped it?

Restore the phone, it'll re contact the activation servers and pull down the correct activation profile.

GiffGaff will work in an O2 phone anyway so are you sure it was ever unlocked correctly?

Ok great, but it's JBd and there's an app on there (Navigon) you cant buy now, how do I save those?

Navigon an App Store or Cydia app?

I've managed to get the phone to select a new sim just by plugging it into iTunes.

But yes, a restore forces the issue.

Well backed up and restored, no joy. Wifeys phone was done at same time and takes te 3 sim so I think mine isblockedvas an apple replacement; unsure what to do now tbh - who's fault is it?

Well ****ed around with it, did a reset and restore and it worked! Huzzah!

Removed apps still exist in your account to download. I still have a Tetris app that was pulled due to EA claiming copyright IIRC.
