Unlocked multi vs Base clock

Hi all. I've got my i7 860 clocked at 4Ghz on custom watercooling. I wanna try to get even higher (personal kicks :-D). Now I've got my base clock at 181 Mhz and my multiplier at 22.

I wanna get even higher than that say 4.3Ghz, but I keep getting bsod, as I can overclock my base clock, not my multi.

Now I understand that overclocking my base clock i'm overclocking my motherboard/ram (@1456 Mhz)too.

Now if I wanted to achieve any higher would I have to purchase another i7 with an unlocked multiplier to get even higher? BTW If so I wouldn't replace my current i7 for the sake of 300-400 Mhz.

Is there a way to make my system more stable as I increase the base clock?

I've tried increasing my IMC voltage, but still no luck.

Cheers all.
