Unlocked my 550BE - Core temp not reading?

The whole system is cold as ice anyway. I'd just like a better reading on core temps before I started OCing it again.

Any ideas? :)

i vaguely remember reading something about the temp probes not working once you unlock one of these badboys... could be wrong but worth looking into :)

Either TMNP1 or TMNP is the senosor for your CPU on the mobo; its the one that goes up rapidly when you stress your CPU. Locked you should get a reference between this and core temp at both load and idle; should then translate when unlocked.

I think everest ultimate may be able to read your core temps too.

Good luck!

from a laymans standpoint I can't see why not, maybe a few extra degrees as the other core will now br running. Might try and disable a core in boios on my 920 i7 and see how it affects temps - idea for a ultra low temp and quiet profile for watching movies at night....

thanks!!

Nice one reiyushin!

You lucked out there my son! . . . the AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 550 is good choice of High-End AMD chip based on the fact if you can unlock the extra cores you got a maximum bang for buck processor!

I was hesitant to purchase one as knowing my luck it wouldn't unlock, anyway you should be well chuffed with that and loosing the ability to monitor core temps is a very small price to pay! :p

If you doing some extreme clocking you can also put your hand on the CPU heatsink to see how the temps are doing, if you really need a confirmation I think you'll have to reset back to x2 cores and check what the temps are!

I really did. I was skeptical at first but I figured I'd give it a go. Really pleased with the performance of this little CPU, as a dual core it clocked happily to 4ghz and ran smooth as silk, now it's a quad and it's even better lol :)

I'll get a reading on the temps and try push it a little more. Vcore is 1.425 so there could still be a little bit still to be had :D
