Hi All,

I have recently moved from EE to Smarty for 5G broadband but am still using the unlocked 5GEE Router (2021).

When I put my Smarty sim card in my phone it works on 5G with no issues. And has speeds between 700mb to 1.0gb which is great.

However when I put the sim in the router it will only connect to 4G and has speeds around 300-400mb.

Has anyone had similar and been able to resolve or am I going to have to purchase a new 5G router at some point ?

Thanks

are you sure theres 5g on a band the router supports, in the area?

when there's good signal and no congestion Threes 5g blows the other networks away

If I put the sim in my mobile phone I get 4 bars of 5G signal and 900mb speeds with a 17 ping!

Having googled some people have had to manually change the band for 5g on this router when on three.

But the EE Firmware is rubbish and doesn't have this or any other real setting you can change.

I might have to bite the bullet and try another router to see if it helps.

Thanks

i've got a ZTE MC7010 and a lebara SIM and it would keep disconnecting from 5G and connecting 4G on the 800Mhz b20 which would be really slow, it's branded three so most settings are locked down but found a javascript hack that enabled band locking etc

Thanks, I got a ZTE MC888 unlocked router to try and it seems to be working fine on 5G now with no issues. Full signal and 300-750mb speeds at the moment.
