Heya, I'm new!!! Hows it going?? (=

Going back say 8-10 years ago my life was based around desktops/overclocking so I'm not a total noob at this but it has been a very long time since I dabbled in this.

I wanna build myself a decent Gaming PC for a extremely small budget and after much research it looks like a Phenom chip is the way to go. (Correct me if I am wrong here)

I'm not sure what chip to get, I would like the 6 core ones but it depends on price/Ebay.

Say if I get one of the quad core chips and then unlock it to 6 core, would AMD Turbo boost still work?

My limit is £75 and I was very lucky to win a decent board for £18 delivered (Gigabyte MA770-UD3)

I have an old case but gota be careful that the CPU cooler would fit.

In terms of GPU, I probs forget about that till I can save up some more money. Still though right now I'm clueless about what GPU to get, any suggestions would be nice.

Thanks heaps,

Marmadukes

phenom ii in 2017? lol

ok first of all you are going to need one that unlocks. a 960t should unlock, whereas no 965 be do.

you need a gpu as phenom doesnt have a gpu. if £75 is the budget for a cpu, i would say you can get a phenom ii for ~£40 maybe less. As for a gpu to pair with it, a gtx670/660ti or hd7950/r9 280 should be about £50 and are fine at 1080p with mediumish settings. the amd cards have held up better performance wise and have 3gb of vram.
