Hey after a little looking around about my pcs motherboard i found this bios mod
from this site http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Packard-bell-imedia-s3720 i was just wondering if anyone knew if this is something that would actually work to unlock my bios so i could start overclocking my cpu a little as i think its holding my graphics card back at th moment.

my PC is an old packard bell imedia s3720 put into an old case i had with a better power supply i belive the motherboard is a packard bell mcp73pv

the link in the download has a file called : P01-A3_MODDED.ROM.rom
if it was possible, what would i do with this file ?

i dont want to just jump in and mess it all up so thought id get some proper advice first ;)

any more info you need please ask
also if im being dumb please tell me :p
thanks

The above link on the same site tells you how to create a boot USB stick. In the command line where it says AFUDOS bios.rom .............. replace 'bios.rom' with the name of the modded rom P01-A3.ROM.

I have personally flashed many bios chips however there is always a risk and you will need to consider this before you start. I prefer to use a dos floppy boot disk.

If you have a floppy drive, you can make a dos boot disk, load the afudos utility and the modded rom onto the same floppy and boot from that. Use the above command line from the dos prompt.

Worst case scenario, you brick the motherboard. But if it doesn't work, and you need to overclock your CPU, you would then buy a new motherboard anyway. So if you think about, its just a question of 'you may as well try'.
