Unlocking iphone4

Ihow easy/hard is it to unlock an iPhone 4 (Vodafone) so I can use my O2 sim in it. I seem to find all sorts of stories ranging from "dead easy" to "it can't be done" and wildly differing prices too. I don't really want to jailbreak it unless I have to.

If you had a contract with Vodafone then just call them and ask them to unlock it, they do it for free.
