My daughters friend was throwing out an original Ipad Mini, and conviniently i'd mentioned to her that i was after one to use in the car for Google Maps as the current car doesn't have Carplay.

She's reset the ipad, but it's still locked to an Apple ID which she can't remember.

I had a look online and there are a few software solutions (https://www.tenorshare.com/purchase/buy-4mekey-icloud-unlocker.html) which claim they can do it via software, however i'm not even sure the Ipad is worth £30 to warrent spending the money to buy a licence.

Does anyone know of another option or will any of the generic Phone repair shops do it for a smaller cost?

Mods remove if it goes into dodgy territory :)

Apple won't do a whole hell of a lot, particularly if it's that old. I looked into this recently and ended up sacrificing Touch ID and swapped a new unlocked motherboard in to a mini to get it back.

You'll have more hope asking your daughter to scour her emails to see if her friend emailed her with an address that matches the partially obscured one that she used as an Apple ID. Then get access to that email account, then do an iCloud recovery, unlock iPad, etc.
