Unlocking old iPhone 5s

Have one that is locked to 3. Is it possible to unlock it using iTunes? I'm seeing this on a lot of sites but I don't quite understand the process..maybe I'm just having the dumb.

No. Talk to the network provider, 3 are good for that.

speak to the network they will unlock it for you.
pretty sure its free too.

Most are free out of contact now, at least my O2 phone was
