Unlocking the 8800 GT's SP's?

From what I can see its exactly the same board with a better cooler.

All depends on how they lockout out the additional shaders. Bios or cut?
 
Haha if it was just in the bios that would roxxor, once the new GTS is out I guess we will know.

I bet it won't work, but if it does it would be awesome!

Laser cut I reckon just like the old GTS cards. They are there on the GTS cards but you can't switch them back on although you can switch off the ones which are on.

Reckon it will be the same with the GT unless they were in such a hurry to get them out early they forgot or didn't have time.....

I recon that nvidia have noticed that people will unlock them so have cut them to save people grabbing a GTS for cheaper and just unlocking it. ;)

It would kill the GTS then
 
we can live in hope i suppose but its highly doubtfull.
a upgrade of sp's and cooler would rock :D nice duorb and bios and woot away you go

Maybe, maybe not. A lot of people that knew what they were doing probably got the card unlocked it and were happy. Nvidia won't have sold loads of the higher model that the card was being unlocked too, but all they would have to do would be to drop production numbers on that model that people were unlocking from and increase them on the card that it was being unlocked too. The original card would become hard to get therefore raising the price of it, and people would just pay the small extra for the higher card.

Doubtful, your average joe would have been none the wiser about the fact those suckers could be unlocked, only a small minority of enthusiasts would have known about and attempted the mod. :)

Agreed. It would be virtually a zero loss of income in the whole scheme of things.

Could be the first batches were soft locked. Only time will tell.
 
aww :( thought ui might have something to do to keep me from dieing of bordum while this pc gradually dies. Just hoping it wont go before december. Its making nasty sounds and the cpu useage maxs out some times just surfing and listerning to music making the music lag. Its a 3500+ so should be able to do that and never had troubel before.
