**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/What-is-ACTUALLY-new-with-the-Michelin-Pilot-Sport-5.htm

Michelin has just launched the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5, and it looks to be a very interesting, but perhaps not what we expected, update!

First up, some general information to clear up some confusion online. This tyre is not a replacement for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 AND 4S. The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 (PS5) directly replaces the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (PS4), and while there's been no official announcement about the replacement of the Pilot Sport 4 S (PS4S), it is likely this will be replaced at some point in the future.

Just ordered up a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports for my e87 130i. Costco have an offer on for Goodyear tyres (17" and above) so fully fitted for a pair of 225/40/18s on the front and a pair of 235s on the rear came in at £343

They are superb tyres and are absolute bargains. I used them on track on my CTR the other day and they absolutely smashed it, considering they are meant to be primarily road tyres. Great sidewall stiffness, great feedback, great resistance to overheating and excellent grip.

Just crossed 4000 miles on my Crossclimate 2, I rotated them last week. Fronts were on 6.2mm from 7mm and rears were on 6.7mm from 7mm after I gave them a proper measure. Seems they wear fairly quick from new in the warm conditions, but seems they stabilise once they're getting a little lower and in the colder temps. Just typical that this winter has been very mild. Usually by now I'd have had to have driven in numerous snow days.

Just bought 5 x 165 HR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 original equipment tyres for my 1967 MGB on its wire wheels. Not cheap but apparently they make all the difference to how the car was designed to handle when it was new.

Will last 10 years until they need changing due to age again.

That's great to hear, and backs up the reviews I've read about them. I'm heading over to the Nurburgring in June so wanted something decent on for that, without going crazy and getting "proper" trackday tyres. Looking forward to getting them fitted next week and seeing how they feel. I'm just shocked at how cheap I got them, I can't remember paying so little for a full set of 4 tyres since I was fitting 15" AD08s on my old MK2 MX5!

Yeah I bought a set of all-seasons, cue the weather being practically spring like for most of the days since :s

I also fitted a full set of Crossclimate 2s on my 130i in November as for the last year or so it was mostly getting used for the school run and family duties. Then last month I decided that Im going to head over to the Nurburgring this year so my tyre requirements completely changed . So with that coming up, and the mild weather they'll have only covered around a 1000 dry/wet miles before they come off next week :o

The P Zeros on my Q7 appear to have been flat-spotted from the factory (12/21 build date on the car, week 12 21 on the tyres).
Dealer graciously replaced them with SportContact 5 A0 SUV today. I look forward to having to replace them in under 10,000km… :p

Bought Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 225/35R19, great tyres, the grip in the wet is such an improvement to the Nexen that the car came with. Skoda 3.5 VRS

Has anyone had good experience with getting wheel geometry checks completed with "national chains"?
I've needed a couple of tyres since before Christmas and one of my rear tyres is also getting low - so thinking about just slamming on 4x AS5's (225/35/R19) for £408.

Costco don't seem to offer any kind of alignment/geo checks. Want to really get the car on some Hunter equipment and just make sure everything is OK if I'm going to get 4 new tyres.
I tend to believe that the wheel geo check kit is only as good as the people using it. Just wondered if people had been to any of the national chains for this kind of service and everything went OK?

Before I default back to Pirelli Scorpion, does anyone have a recommendation for a tyre in 255/50R20 to go on a Range Rover? I'd love to be able to fit Michelin CrossClimate but they don't appear to be made in the right size. I'm not sure if I could fit a slightly different size tyre to give me a better range of tyre choice?

Conti Cross Contact?

Continental UUHP tyres have always been excellent...until they've worn out 50 miles later and you need a new pair :(

Indeed. Probably the softest tyres I’ve ever used, hence their performance.

Great tyres and excellent value too.

I had Conti SportContact 5 when they were the very latest tyre some years back. Absolutely astonishing tyre, even better than the MPSS I had after that but the wear was ridiculous. I got 6000 miles out of a set whereas the Michelins were good for 12-14k miles under the same conditions.
