**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Ordered a set of Sport Contact 6. £606 inc shipping and £64 cheaper than the Supersport which IMO are a bit overpriced. I fancied trying out Contis as have never had a set before.

Now I really should have had the alloys done AFTER getting new tyres :o

Let us know how they perform!

I am hearing they are a match for MPSS in dry for grip and feedback but superior in the wet, infact supposedly the best wet tyre out.

Wear wise people I know who have them who had MPSS before are saying they are wearing faster than MPSS, so the MPSS is still better value.

Also I am hearing a super sport zero pressure is coming, no idea if this is a supersport replacement or if the zero pressure stands for runflat.

Will do

I'm expecting them to be a bit noisier given the noise index is 4dB higher than the PSS at 73dB.Now that the weather is getting better too I'm quite excited to get some spirited drives going, especially in Scotland later this year :D

I noticed that there is a new version of the Dunlop SportMaxx RT out. The, errr, Dunlop SportMaxx RT 2.

This may be an alternative to those looking at Eagles etc.

It seems they are run flats. :(

The Pilot Super Sport ZP (Zero Pessure) is Michelin's Max Performance Summer run-flat tire originally developed for the 2014 Corvette Stingray. In addition to offering temporary extended mobility, Pilot Super Sport ZP tires also deliver world-class traction and handling in dry and wet conditions. However, like all summer tires, they are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Because the Z51 Performance Package takes the Corvette Stingray to a more aggressive level of performance, Michelin has developed vehicle/size specific Pilot Super Sport ZP tires to permit fine-tuning features to match their vehicle application.

On a side note, I didn't think MPSS are too badly priced.

My rears tyres are going to need replacing soon (~3mm). Currently I have Goodyear F1AS2s all round, and whilst they are very good, I was going to try the Continental SC5 next, as the Goodyears are perhaps a little soft.

However, I now note that both the F1AS3 and the SC6 are out; but I can't seem to find the SC6 in my size (215/45/R17). Just a case that they haven't started making them in that size yet? Anyway to find out if they might do soon?

EDIT: Just looked them up on tyrereviews.co.uk, seems they've only launched them them for 19-22" wheels so far.

Hmm. Well the F1AS3 has excellent reviews across the board and it slightly cheaper than the older SC5. I may well stick with the Goodyears.
Did you ever work out your noise issue with the AS2?

Just picked up a pair of the new F1A3s for the front of the Focus and in the dry they're brilliant. Not sure if it's just the roads were greasy but in the damp they don't seem as good as new F1A2s were. Guess I'll wait for the temps to climb before giving a final judgement though.

Apparently Goodyear haven't aimed the AS3 at the same market as the PS4 or SC6. When mine need replacing I'm looking at the PS4 provided they aren't too much. Apparently the PS4 perform better than the MPSS in all tests apart from dry performance but even then, there is only a couple of tenths difference on track.

Be good to see the first reputable test that includes all of these new tyres as currently we can only go by marketing, speculation and user reviews from people who moved from bald tyres to the new tyres and thought they were epic :p

They usually need 500 miles to scrub in

This. I turned onto a sliproad in the wet, immediately after fitting new Goodyears on the rear, nearly ended up facing back the way I came :p

Let us know how you get on Liquidfox. I'm not quite sure what to do now; I was hoping to move from the F1AS2 to something a bit more performance orientated, but the F1AS3 doesn't seem to be so and the SC6 isn't available in my size. Will have to wait for some more objective reviews before making a decision.

Delays!!!

Camskill have both my fronts in and their supplier only sent them 1x rear when they should have sent 2. They have now ordered the extra rear from Continental direct.

Hopefully both are the same batch being tyres just recently released and all.
