**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Had a nail in 1 of my tesla tyres.... 2 other ones advisory on my MOT...

Got 4 corners all changed + 4wd alignment + tyre warranty for near £1200 feels like murder. Went for Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 EV Sound Absorber (225/45/r19 for my tesla model Y)

Errm, £30 tyre plug kit from Amazon and 30 minutes of your time?

Fussy how? They’re both star-marked PZ4s so the dealer will claim they’re fine.
I want matching tyres but not keen to pay £250-500 for the privilege..
It's to do with the circumference of the tyres and the fact the transfer cases use a wet-type clutch to adjust the load between the front and rear axles.

If the circumference of the front vs the rear is out it makes the clutch work hard to maintain wheel speed between the two axles.

I had this on my X3 and now I only change they tyres as a complete matching set, then you just pray that you don't get a puncture or gash that can't be repaired as you will mess up the circumference again.

Giving these a try. Had Yokohama A052 which were looking very tired after only a day and a half at Pembrey. Doing Combe tomorrow then the Ring Thursday. A052 probably wouldn't have lasted. Was going with AD09 but a mate said they weren't that great. Nankan CRS I couldn't get the rear size so here we are with the Vitours.

I'm guessing as they're supposed to be harder they should be better to cope with the heat and should cope with Pembrey better. (Apparently, the surface is known to be very hard on tyres)

Tomorrow A052 would have just melt, it’s going to be hot! They are a good lap3 tyre then overheat.

AD09 aren’t as fast but more stable. Hot pressures went thru the roof when I did Combe last month at 32C. Not read much on vitours

These I believe are quite hard. They take longer to come in but stay consistent for longer, apparently anyway. Lad on our trip has a monster of an M2 he's fitted the same so we'll compare.

They're doing the MOT on a spare set of winter wheels they have lying around as one of wheels is getting refurbed. How convenient  :p

I see a lot of guys raving about the Tempesa P1's recently.
Popping back with an update.

We did Combe last Wednesday. I think 7/8 laps. Was very hot. No problems with tyre temps. Stayed 30 front, 32 rear all day.

On to the Ring where I did 35 laps. Again, tyre temps were absolutely fine with outside temps in the mid to high 30s. Was better doing laps for the A/C !

Car was due a MOT yesterday where the rear left failed being below the limit. :( I thought it might fail but after 2000 miles I just could not face changing back to the stock wheels. Put the stocks on this morning and a nice new 12 month ticket was issued.

I do have a fairly used set of A052s but I don't want to put them back on. The front P1s are fine and would do another weekend no problem. Just have to change the rears.

I may do a Pembrey before the end of the season with the P1s I have just to finish off the rears. :)

I'm seriously thinking about going cheap (er) for tyres.

I been using Pilot Sport 4's for a good few years, and yes, very good.

Last time I got a set of Bridgestone Turanza 6 (I think) and other than a notable reduction in grip on the wear in period, I can't really tell a hell of a lot of difference now.

My step son bought a second hand Skoda that needed all four tyres and being budget conscious went for Toyo tyres and he reckons they are fine.

Don't get me wrong, I'd never go for Linglong Chinese ditch finders or otherwise proper low end, but I'm thinking are decent mid range really much worse then top end premium, on the basis you are getting on a bit and don't drive like Lewis Hamilton?

I dunno...... I guess the cost difference at the time will be a big factor to it.
