Hi I got myself a set of z-5500s the other day, I was wondering if there’s some sort of control program I should DLed because atm if I unplug them from the PC even when the power is off it causes my PC to crash. (I need to do this often to plug in my 5.1 headset) Also Im noticing in some situations certain sounds aren’t coming through, for example when viewing some DvDs all the sound will come through except for the speech.

Anyway any help will be much appreciated.

hmm, my theory out the water then. Unplugging them from the pc (via jacks yeah) shouldn't cause pc to crash...

Tried different jacks 9headphones and such0 in the audigy see if thats the problem?

Could be a surge of power everytime your unplug them too? Do the speakers make a bassy "pop" or "thud" when you unconnect?

Also try connecting something else to the speakers and unplugging that, see if..your pc turns off :x ?

If it is the speakers causing a power surge, try a different plug socket?

Bit vague, I hope something there manages to help :)

The sound reproducing (or not in your case) might be with the settings? For movies pop it in movie mode, sometimes i've noticed sounds not coming out for me if i dont do this.

only other thing i can suggest is updating everything with your pc. (Sound/motherboard drivers) There isn't a control panel for the speakers afaik.

Hmm that's a weird one! I have the z5500's and the Audigy2 ZS and I've never had that problem before.

Have you checked to make sure the sound card is properly secured in its PCI slot? If it's not in porperly or you haven't used the screw then maybe when you're unplugging the jacks it's moving the sound card causing PC to crash?

Try using a difference PCI slot on your mobo, maybe its a bit faulty.

Try a completely difference PC?

If its the same then try some new cables?

Are you using coax/optical/direct? Try using another type.

EDIT > Oh yeah with the sound problem, make sure the creative custom EQ sounds are disabled. When I play world of warcraft with them on, only my music comes through the speakers and the only sounds I hear from the game are footsteps? Very weird indeed. Might affect DVDs too.

EDIT2 > Thanks lay-z-boy, what a stupid mistake lol. Corrected.
