Unread Mail Count Not Resetting

Recently (over the past week), the unread mail count doesn't reset when I read my emails.
This means that Windows Live Messenger keeps telling me I have emails, and the screen on my G15 tells me I have emails. Is there any way short of disabling the feature (not an option) of fixing this?

I know it can be cleared using Tweak UI (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx), not sure about disabling it.

Forgot to mention I'm running Vista (64 Bit), so TweakUI won't run
