Looking at my shelf I have UT2003, UT2004 and UT3 all side by side. I used to have UT but got rid of it for some stupid reason. Such a great game and I agree that UT3 is not as good as UT2004 but its still a good game, and without it I wouldnt have such a good engine to work with now!

Such a good series of games. I installed UT3 the other week and tried to give that another go but it was dead online.

UT99 and 04 were absolutely amazing games. I have no idea what the hell happened with UT3 - it was supposed to be the flag-bearer for Epic and their Unreal Engine 3, but it was treated like a second-rate project in favour of Gears of War and its 360 launch.

Their 360/GoW focus got Epic considerable success in the industry, but they paid a horrible price for it. Unreal isn't relevant anymore.

Yes, it was a fantastic game

I remember that it ran very nicely on my voodoo2 SLI setup (that I was very proud of!). Sniping at my foes in from a high vantage point in Deck16 was ace

Used to drive my mates mental doing that, one of the first games I ever played at a lan

Love the game, but could not get it working on windows 7 properly. Something about a dual cpu bug that speeds it up/slows it down. So irritating, bought it in a steam sale.

Instagib CTF is my favourite. Still play it now and again!

My favourite too, I was pretty good at it too but these days I'm not great at online shooters, i'm either out of practice or getting old

real ctf , tacops ,infiltration and strike force mod those were the good ole days of playing online

oh yeah, excellent mods, I used to love Strikeforce until they did a big update (forget the patch number) and ruined it imo

I reinstalled UT99 on tuesday, cant beleive there are still servers running!

Absoutely love it, used to play for some big clans back in the day, my bro used to play for the UK team!

UT GOTY edition - I think that was UT99 was awesome. I was really poor at it tbh but still spent weeks, no months possibly years hammering it online with a few mates.

I installed it again recently on a 13.3" laptop which has a 1.4ghz dual core cpu, ati 4330 gfx, 4gb ddr3, 64gb ssd, win 7 64 and it runs weird. It was like it was set to anti-gravity and felt slow. UT3 runs far better but is nowhere near as good. Is there some sort of update/patch to make it run better on newer machines? My 1ghz athlon with geforce 2 about 10 years ago was more then capable.

Personally only stopped playing ut1 on clanbase this summer after 10 years straight - best game of all time in my eyes!

When I was little I used to get the sniper rifle and stand on the tower on facing worlds and just pick them off. Non-stop M M M MONSTER KILLLLL until I got bored.
