Hey all,

My sisters Galaxy S2 has decided the screen doesn't need to be visible anymore :(

The phone still boots and you can hear messages coming through (still rings too) but the screen fails to illuminate at all. The touch sensitive part functions fine though!

Can anyone advise how to flash back to stock without a visible screen? I imagine clearing the cache etc may cause great problems!

Thanks :)

I'm sure you can do this with Odin as Rusty suggested.

A guide to flash a stock rom is here http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-ap...ck-android-rom-on-samsung-galaxy-s2-50007880/

The without screen parts you need to know are:

Enter download mode by holding vol-down + power + home on your phone. You won't be able to see when you get to the download screen so for reference I held the buttons in for 12 secs. That gets you to this screen from the guide:

Now press vol-up as the picture above show to get you to this screen:

Good luck!

Awwwww you broke it

Ha ha just flash again something might have gone wrong while flashing, if it worked before the flash it will work again, I've broken mine loads of times but never that issue

Grrrr - Thank you very much for taking the time to do that for me. Very much appreciated and I owe you something for it.

Ok well I've managed to get the stock firmware loading... problem is - I need to clear cache and dalvik I think?

Any pointers please grrr?

From what I can or cannot tell - It doesn't appear to be loading.

Temptation is to rip it apart and replace the screen but I'd far rather send it off to samsung!

Update guys -

Since flashing the old bootloader so I can use a USB jig on it - it now loads drivers in windows for samsung usb modem. Is that a good sign?

cjgardens is right, you don't need to wipe cache/dalvik.

When you install a stock ROM you have to go through the setup process first. Perhaps this is stopping you getting to the homescreen to do things like connect via USB. Does the samsung boot up audio play before completing setup? It's been over a year since i last flashed a stock rom - can't remember!

If the install via Odin process seemed to work, i.e. the progress bar moved along, it took a few mins and said complete - then I think you should be good to send it off to Samsung.

EDIT\ Just had a thought. You don't need to wipe cache dalvik, but you may need to factory reset since you're coming from another ROM. I'm sure someone with a stock ROM can tell you the buttons to press to do that...
