Yesterday my pc started automatically restarting, and running the "CHKDSK" thing constantly. Then just started restarting at the windows xp logo screen. I tried to format and it kept skipping files on the disk (about 25 in total) so it wouldn't boot, eventually it formatted fine, i installed everything, and just now it's started bluescreen ocassionally and restarting randomly. This leads me to think it's a hardware issue as a format didn't fix it, i have an e6300 overclocked at 2.8ghz, with crucial ballistix 1066mhz ram, and the cpu is running at 53 degrees idle. however it is a SFF build and it's never spontaneously start rebooting before with the same kind of temps...

could be the hard drive dying as it constantly running CHKDSK also if it took ages to reinstall windows that could also suggest the hard drive as the files took ages as you say copying over...

Write the message down when you next get a blue screen and then someone here can tell you for sure what it is..

Also at times like this I would suggest you go back to stock it could be an unstable overclock..

The hard drive is a 150gb raptor X , so i downloaded western digitals diagnostic tool and it said the hard drive was fine, i have an ocz 520w modstream

Disable auto-restart.

System Properties -> Startup and Recovery

this man speaks the truth, then the blue screen will stay there until you physically press restart which will give you more then enough time to write down the error msg..
