unsporting on FIFA : ruining online play

I recently bough this game again and got it on live.
It is full of unsporting fools. I can't win a game because when i score a few people just leave. it's begining to ruin the game as i can't win a game because of this.
anyone else have this problem.

Yep, I just play with friends now. I had a break from Fifa and I don't ever remember it being as bad as it is now.

I can honestly say in over 200 games I have never quit when loosing, even if I was getting spanked. What's the point?

Normally I send a childish message to the other player if they quit

This is the problem with multiplayer games, any potential for greatness they have is nearly always ruined by the fact you play with humans.

Yep I made a thread about it a while ago, quitting in 09 is significantly worse than it was in 08 and I can't put my finger on why. I've stopped playing online due to this and usually just play offline with friends at uni.

I've quit before, purely because the other player has stupid lag and ruins the game. I find it grossly unfair that I suffer because their connection is such that it means I cant tackle and they just run the ball in the net.
My main gripe is that 99% of people play as man utd which is so dull!

Try and go 1 up and then just keen possession of the ball. They will soon quit.

Completely agree about Man Utd, I will exit out of the session at the team selection screen if someone chooses them. I find 4-4.5 star teams to be the most fun and even games.

I'll normally be Valencia, Athletico Madrid, Villa or Spurs

Thats the problem though, I cant get the ball as their players arent where they should be

Not usually a problem though, only rarely happens

i dont play fifa but is there no penalty for quitting or anyway to see peoples stats before you join a game?

Couldnt agree more,its either Utd or Barca, to which I always quit out at the team selection.

Had a good game last night, with a dude, and he decided to be Sheff Weds. so I thought rather than picking a premier team, I went for Cardiff City.

Its them games that tend to be a real good game, and you know that the other player is playing for fun rather than the win. Which when its played for the win, you tend to get quitters. IMO

Hasn't this always been a problem since it first went online? Weird it hasn't been sorted. Should ban people from starting another game for x amount of time.

i set my default team to tranmere at the moment and wait to see what team they cycle too. If the choose a 3->4 star team then i play them otherwise i drop out at team selection. Seems to work as i am finishing most of my games, i am playing on the PS3.

Joined a BAP game the other day (well tried too)

i. People dont get a position they want so leave
ii. They change subs because someone is playing badly when all characters are equal skill (85 is it?)
iii. Full of scousers (not that I have issues with them but the abuse is far worse from them).

I see someone the other day that had an 80% DNF rating. He should be banned from playing online as punishment imo

In PES you get a default win (3-0) if a player leaves, does FIFA not have this?

Yes it does. You get a 3-0 win if a player leaves a ranked match.

I think this maybe down to huge success of Fifa 09. More players = more quitters. Or dare should i say it, its the former pro evo players who cant get to grips with the game :rolleyes:

I agree with that quiters that go above a certain DNF should be banned from online games for X amount of time.

The same way as like, on WoW if you leave a battlegound before it ends, you get 'deserter' which means for 20 mins, you cannot play another BG.

I do the same, have mine as Hamilton Accies and just refuse to play five star teams now.
