Unstable OC? Random Crashes

Hey all,

after digging through google can't seem to find anything that'll help me with this so, here goes.

PC spec:

E5200
Radeon 4850
EP43-DS3L

I upgraded RAM from some 2GB stuff to this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-039-KS

And at the same time installed Win7 64bit, now that ram runs at a default of 800mhz, but is designed to be clocked to 1066mhz, so I did,

Upped the DRAM Voltage to 2.2 like it says, tighten the times to 5-5-5-15 as it says it's been test at.

Since then I've been running it, it boots and posts fine, but some strange things are happening.

1) A game (Guild Wars) loves crashing, but only when its minimized, it seems if I minimize it then do something else, it'll crash in a few seconds/minutes.

2) I also got a BSOD a few hours ago, wasn't doing anything intensive and was only using 50%~ of the RAM.

Is it possible that my CPU became unstable, my old ram which was 667, was OC'd to 800mz, which put my CPU at (if I remember correctly) 3.2GHz and is now at 3.33Ghz (temps look fine too)

Uploaded my screens of my BIOS, hopefully they'll help. (Follow the link to the gallery)

http://img517.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=13022010186.jpg

I can also upload the crash log of that game if that helps anyone.

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

It's Real early Dude so I only have a couple of suggestions for now.
Firstly manually set your voltages as Auto is Messy & secondly try the Ram at 800 to see if it stops it crashing just as a test to give an indication of whether its power/settings or Ram.

Thanks, I appreciate its very early :)

I've taken your advice, totally restored factory settings on my mobo, so all OC is gone.

So far it looks good, I'll keep it going a few hours, I will mention something I just noticed, I had a 800MHz OC on my CPU, with no voltage increase, does that seem fishy to anyone else?

I think the best thing to do really is restore factory defaults as you've done. Test it and make sure nothings faulty and then start working from the ground up again on your overclock.

OK so I can confirm it was a unstable OC then, the crashes stopped when it wasn't OC'd.

Could someone tell me what voltage they think my CPU (E5200) should be at (running at 3.33GHz, which is what it'll need to run at to get the 1066 out of my ram).

Also what I should set the following to

Performance Enchance
(G) MCH Frequency Latch
System Memory Multiplier (SPD)

What would be great is if someone didn't mind explaining what they are/do. I like to be able to understand what things do rather then just knowing what they need to be set at =P.

Thanks again guys

When i started overclocking i practically googled every setting in the bios lol just to get an understanding as you say on what it does. From that i knew how relevant/important each setting was to give me a stable overclock. You do need rough starting points though for voltages. First thing i'd do is set the vcore to stock volts, which you should be able to find on intels site and set your memory to its max voltage, which is easy enough to find out again if you go on the manufacturers site. Disable any spread spectrums, set default memory timings, pcie frequency @ 100/101, lower memory multi, etc as well. Other voltages and settings i'd tweak when i run into problems, but that would be my starting point.
