Hoping one of you lot can help me out

Out of bordem last night i started watching vids on youtube about overclocking i5 2500k , it seemed fairly straight forward so thought id give it a try

anywayz, i followed a video, who had same specs as me, i5 2500k on a p8z68-v pro Mobo, set multiplyer to 45, with a voltage core to 1.350, changed a few other settings too, saved profile and booted up the pc

i downloaded and installed prime95, and left that running overnight (Approx 10 hours), with no errors at all temps did not go above 55 degrees, (corsair h100 cooler)

so i thought i had cracked it, but after spending a few hours on farcry 3, with no issues i deceded to stick a blu ray on, i then got blue screen of death twice, one half way through the movie and one 10 mins before end.

what do you think i should do?, load optimzed defaults?

i find it strange that my pc dident crash under load for 10 hours, but then crashed watching a blu ray twice

any ideas would be appreciated.

ok lowerd the vcore to 1.320, running prime95 vcore fluctuating between 1.34/1.35
min 1.31 max 1.34

temps are

core0 min 31 max 55 load 100
core1 min 33 max 59 load 100
core2 min 31 max 59 load 100
core3 min 35 max 59 load 100

you wanna learn to use offset cpu voltage,so that the cpu clocks up and down in speed/voltages according to load

at idle it will use less power and run cooler

heres a guide i posted a while back, should be similar for 2500k but enter your own ram speed/timings/voltages

i will have a read up, thanks for the link, although im very new to all this, it was a huge step for my messing with the multiplier! lol

Just bsod again as I was viewing forum so im using my phone to type this . Looking at my bios now shall I try lowering it more don't understand offset im new to this . I probly shouldent if messed wjth it in first place. Hate seeing bsod if I can't sort it out will optimised default reztore it to how it was?

well back on pc now, i tried lowering it to 1.310, but pc bsod on boot up, then tried the setting your running offset +0.065, and it booted up so thats a start lol

well opened cpuz and voltage shot up to 1.47 underload, what would you suggest lowring the offset to?

when system is idle vcore is 1.07

I decided to f5 to default, i really have not got a clue about overclocking, the videos teased me :P

im scared of blowing my machine up, its my pride n joy! and when i saw the voltage go to 1.47 that did it for me

Try with +0.005 or +0.010v offset, each chip is different in how much or less voltage it needs

Enable x.m.p for your memory aswell
hi wazzer, after defaulting, im not sure what to do now?

id have to watch the video again to get the settings right then change the offset at end. ill let you know the outcome if i decide to do it
