Ive overclocked my E6300 to 2.94Ghz its fully stable in Orthos, but as soon as i launch BF2 loud static noise comes from my headphones, then the PC crashes, is this a overclock stability prob or a game/driver prob?

Thanks, Ben

Ive got a Hiper Type R 580W, what do you think?

EDIT: Just realised its the 530W not the 580W, if it makes a difference, is there anyway to be certain if it is the PSU?

Thanks, Ben

pretty sure that the 530W Hiper is good enough to run a single GPU system!

How long are you running orthos for....try also running orthos on both cores at same time and looping 3dmark simultaneously...see what happens. is it ok running 3dmark by itself?

I run Orthos for 1 hour, is this long enough? Whats weird is that BF2 etc crashes within seconds but Orthos lasted 1 hour. Also it was using the blend test.
Im back at stock at the mo but ill try and check 3d mark 06 later today.

Thanks, Ben

I'm running a 520w ocz with a x1900xt, 5 h/drives and a wc system so don't think it can be psu related unless it's faulty.

I'd check memory timings and voltages.

TBH it sound s like a driver issue. I have had similar issues in the past...and found that updatuing sound drivers helped. I also used to get games freezing and PC locking up with a screetching noise from the speakers...similar? Try updating your soudn drivers..especially if they are Creative ones..and also try a different video driver.
